I'm selling away

Sooooo, last Saturday we had a yard sale with some friends in the Tre For (Gangsta for Winston-Salem).  Below are my thoughts----

·         Jennifer hates Yard Sales, Jay likes Yard Sales, The Sherman Family (All 3 Generations) rock at Yard Sales and location is key

·         If your Yard Sale starts at 7:30, your 1^st customer will show up at 6:30

·         Don’t spend time organizing because it will be messed up with in the 1^st 30 minutes

·         Your Big Ticket Items will be sold in the first hour, if not start slashing prices

·         Anything that you think is nice or has any real value will not sell.  It amazed me that practically new nice items that were priced for a small fraction of their retail price did not sell.

·         Anything you consider crap or might donate to Goodwill will sell.  Examples-Broken Xmas Decorations, Items you got for free, Jennifer’s handmade non-functional salt and pepper shakers from pottery class.

·         Golf Clubs, Lawn Mowers, Yard Tools will go quickly no matter the condition.

·         Baby Clothes hot items, Baby Toys not so much

·         CDs, DVDs, Books-Hot Sellers

·         Your mentality needs to be-Nothing is going back in the house, anything that does not find a new home gets donated to a charity

·         Adult Clothes-Don’t waste your time

·         When Negotiating have fun-it helps to use a little spanglish, some sarcasm, and have a bottom price and do not give in.

·         Always play up the fact that you have kids and they need to eat…

·         At the end of the day it doesn’t matter how much money you make because all the crap is out of your house.  Which is also concerning because it allows the wife more room for new more expensive crap.
