BBQ/Carhartt/Taylor Swift

I know there is much chatter on the Interwebs on the upcoming Weavys, but you will just have to wait because the Weavys are always announced during Thanksgiving Week, because we are thanking things for being Awesome.
This Post is about Pulled Pork, since moving back to NC, Jennifer and I have attended the Lexington BBQ Festival every fall.  Although the actual BBQ at the festival is below the normal high standard for Lexington-we enjoy the festival.  Why?  I’ll tell you-

-Fried Apple Pies from The Church of the Prophecy of our Lord and Savior 7th Day Pentecostal Church-These Things will give you a religious experience

-People Watching-Better than the Dixie Classic Fair and Cheaper

-Entertainment-tons o music and acts and all free (Usually there are 2/3 Big Name Country Acts and then some up and coming talent)

-Parking-With roots deep into the great town of Lexington our parking is free and a block from the festival (Thanks Uncle J-Bo)

-Army/Navy Store-I always like visiting my Uncle Wank Wank at the store and on BBQ Festival Day, you really get to see the King of Carhartt and Lord of Levis in his element.  We also get to see Auntie Sheila who always has something witty to say, followed by “Lord, these people are crazy.”  This year Sheila was wearing a shirt that said “Squeeze a Boob” (Sheila recently kicked Breast Cancer’s Butt).

Overall, it is great to see the little town of Lexington packed with people.   To an outsider Lexington probably looks like many other small towns after the factories have been packed up and moved overseas, but I think there is still hope for the BBQ Capital of the World.  And to me, it is great to go and relive memories of my grandparents and see that old faded sign that my grandfather hand painted or have that random stranger say “You must be a Nance…”  We need less malls and more small towns…
